❤️ Powerful Things You Should Know About God’s Love for You ❤️

God’s love for you is unlike any other love there is. Guaranteed. He is the author of love. While we can’t fully wrap our minds around God’s love, the Bible says a lot of amazing things about it. In fact, you can’t go too many pages in the Bible without seeing a beautiful expression of God’s love towards His people.

What is love according to the Bible?

The Bible says so much about love.

1 Corinthians 13:4-5: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”

A good definition of Biblical love would be 1 Corinthians 13. Love is patient, it’s kind, it does not envy or boast and it is not arrogant or rude. Biblical love is not self-seeking and it doesn’t love with conditions. True Biblical love isn’t easy and goes against our fallen human nature. But, it’s the best kind of love there is.

5 Powerful Things You Should Know about God’s Love for You

1. God’s love is sacrificial

"By this, we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.” 1 JOHN 3:16

Jesus laid down his life for us so that we could be free from the bondage of sin. He left his throne in heaven to live among people who would reject and betray him. This is one of the things that really separate God’s love from ours. While we do make sacrifices for the sake of love, few of us would make that kind of ultimate sacrifice for a loved one. But, Jesus didn’t just die for the people who loved and obeyed him. He died for the ones who hated him too.

He knew that we would betray him over and over again and choose ourselves over him. But he still laid down his life for us. Can you imagine that Jesus would do so much for us despite our unworthiness? He doesn’t wait until we’re good and perfect to love us. He loves us so much that while we were still sinners, he died for us.

2. God’s love is steadfast

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” LAMENTATIONS 3:21-25

Have you ever been in a relationship where the other person professed a deep love for you and then a couple of weeks, months, or years down the line, they tell you that they’ve fallen out of love with you? While humans aren’t always trustworthy, God keeps his promises. He’s never going to stop loving you. He doesn’t take away his love because we fail or mess up, he loves us no matter what we do.

There’s nothing you can do to earn more of His love or to lose his love. Regardless of where you’ve been or what you have done, he loves you. He is faithful towards you. Even if you don’t choose to love him back, he’ll still love you.

3. God’s love is perfect

"There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” 1 JOHN 4:18

God’s love is absolutely and completely perfect. While we have many experiences with love, our love is far from perfect. It’s tainted by expectations, conditions, and the ups and downs of life. Sometimes we’re in love and other times we’re out of love. God’s love is the only one that cannot be tainted. He is the definition of love. It’s his character and nature.

While our love is not perfect, we can grow in love as each day goes by. We look toward him to define love as we walk in his footsteps. The truth is, we can read all the books and take lessons from the best mentors but God is the only one who can transform our experience with love. We can’t find the answers we’re searching for about love without him. It’s impossible. If you’re struggling to love, look to God to teach you how to do it well.

4. God’s love never ends

God’s love for you will never end. Once again, there is nothing you can do to lose his love. You’re never too far gone to receive his love. He made a promise to keep his covenant love towards you and that is what he will do.

You can rest in that truth. He’s never going to leave you or forsake you. If you’re running from him because of things you have done, come back. His love for you won’t ever end.

5. God’s love changes us

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” JOHN 3:16

Finally, God’s love changes us. It’s only because of his love why we can go from sinner to saved. His love redeems us from our fallen state and enables us to be clothed in his righteousness. We have eternal life because of his love.

How to receive God’s love

Ask him to pour his love on you and open up your heart and receive it. It’s a gift you can’t earn. You don’t have to try to make yourself better or more worthy to receive it, you just have to come as you are. His love transforms you, not the other way around.

These truths about God’s love are life-changing. Take a moment to really sit and ponder what they really mean. Think about what your response will be to this kind of radical love. If you already know Jesus as your savior, then you’ve already responded to his love. But, if you don’t know him, what will you do in light of the love that God has for you?

I’ll tell you what I did and what I choose to do every day. I choose to live for him. He didn’t have to love me and I’m definitely not worthy but I’m so glad he does.

Have you had a deep encounter with God’s love? What was it like?

What is it about true love that touches every heart? Since all love emanates from God, we are born with the capacity and the desire to love and to be loved. Responding to true love is part of our very being.

Only as we feel God’s love and fill our hearts with His love can we be truly happy. God’s love fills the immensity of space; therefore, there is no shortage of love in the universe, only in our willingness to do what is needed to feel it. In response to God’s love, we should “love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, soul, strength, and mind; and thy neighbor as thyself” (Luke 10:27).

The more we obey God, the more we desire to help others. The more we help others, the more we love God and on and on. Conversely, the more we disobey God and the more selfish we are, the less love we feel. God is anxious to help us feel His love wherever we are.

Being filled with God’s love is the most joyous of all things and is worth every cost.

Invite Christ into your heart. Commit your life to Jesus. To have peace with God, you don’t have to be perfect because Christ has already lived a perfect life and paid the price for your sins.
